Kuwait contestants grab top honours in Team event.
The tri-nation LG Windows Gaming Championship concluded on a high note recently as gamers across the region battled it out for glory and recognition. The two-day event saw contestants from the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia competing for the grand prize with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait emerging as winners in the individual and team challenges respectively.
Taking place at Ibn Battuta Mall?s Egypt Court, UAE gamers competed in two categories: the individual Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and the Counterstrike Source team challenges. Of the 64 individual contestants, Khalid Abdullah from Abu Dhabi scored a place in the regional final, while 31 groups participated in the team rounds with group ?A List? declared as winner for the finals.
After the UAE round concluded, contestants geared up for the regional finals in Dubai. Previous winners of the individual category competed against one another with Kuwait?s Mohammed Al Jaber emerging triumphant in the final standoff against UAE?s Khalil Abdulla.
The team challenge saw Kuwaiti group ?Gameworks Clan? contesting against ?A List? from the UAE and Saudi?s ?Team Illusion?. After a close battle, Kuwait?s team of five was announced winners.
Prize money worth more than US$ 8,000 was presented to winners by LG Electronics officials, sponsors of the LG Windows Gaming Championship.
Commenting on the spectacular event, Mr. C.H. Lee, President of LG Electronics, Gulf FZE, said: ?This has been a phenomenal two days of exciting gaming. We have seen people from all walks of life participate, observe and support their fellow players. It is wonderful to see the popularity of gaming in the Middle East and, we hope to expand this event to include other GCC countries.
